The hill villages Ano Hersonisos, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari are ideal spots for relaxation. In a picturesque atmosphere visitors can enjoy their meal at the traditional taverns of these villages. There is also a good selection of self-catering apartments and small hotels for those who are looking for tranquility and Cretan philoxenia away from the hustle and bustle of Hersonisos.  In Piskopiano you can visit the Museum of Rural Life, housed in an olive oil mill from the 19th century.

Star Water Park, east of Hersonisos is a playground of pools and waterfalls. About 3 km inland you can visit Aqua Splash Water Park, which is on the way to Lassithi Plateau.

The newly built Crete Golf Club is situated about 7 km south of Hersonisos near the Aqua Splash Water Park and it is a full 18-hole golf course providing a full range of facilities.
