In the village you can visit old frescoed churches and chapels. The church of Agios Antonios to the northwest contains remarkable frescos from the 14th century AD. In the church of Agios Georgios (Avdou';s cemetery) you can admire marvellous frescos dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries.
Just one km northwest of Avdou is the small church of Agios Konstantinos with wonderful frescos painted by Emmanouil and Ioannis Fokas in 1445. They are not however in good condition.
Northeast of Avdou are some interesting caves to visit. The cave of Agia Fotini is located in an altitude of 1100m above sea level. It is 43m long, 4m wide and 6m high. You will find the cave of Faneromeni in the same area in an altitude of 1000m and is 70m long, 10m wide and 15m high.
