Overview

Heading out from the city towards the West, we pass through traditional villages. After a while the bus turns towards the south, we take route along olive groves, chestnut trees and flowerfields through one of the prettiest parts of Crete. A 30-minute ride will take you to the monastery of Chryssoskalitissa, which is high on the rocks overlooking the coast, and commands beautiful views. It is also the home of the legend of the ';Golden Step'; (Chryssoskalitissa in Greek).

According to the locals whomever finds and treads on the ';Golden Step'; on the way to the monastery will have riches for the rest of their lives! The Libyan Sea and Elafonissi - the most south - westerly point of Crete - is not far away. Considered to be a truly beautiful place with it';s pale pink sandy beaches, and crystal clear water.  Here we have time ti either laze away, soaking up the sun or why not explore the small islands just off from the shore... you can walk or swim to them from the beach. A unique seaside area. Enjoy the surrounding nature and have a little snack.
