Overview

Perama is the main village of the valley of Mylopotamos, that is full of trees and vines. The village is located easternly of  Rethimno, on the 24th klm. of the old road Rethimno -; Heraklion. It  is built on the left bank of Avlopotamos, where a ";Perama"; existed, that is to say a crossing of a river, that connected the village with Melidoni and Panormo.
In Perama lived the wildest Turks of Mylopotamos, and that';s why they called the village Perama and ‘Poro tou Harou'; and 'tou Satana'. That is where the Turks awaited the passing by Christians in order to rob them and to submit them to unimaginable tortures before killing them.
