Overview

Municipality of Souda, after the ";Ioannis Kapodistrias"; programm was launched(a programm on uniting small cities and villages into one municipality), consists of Souda, Tsikalaria and Aptera. The newly formed Municipality of Souda covers all southwest area of the Souda cove. Its modern harbor is the major coastal link between western Crete and the rest of Greece.

On the West, Souda borders with the Municipality of Chania and Eleftherios Venizelos, on the East it borders with the Municipality of Armenes, North with Akrotiri and South with the Municipality of Keramies

The total population of Souda is about 8,000 citizens, as the inventory of 2001 reports.
