Overview

The village of Arkassa counts about 400 permanent inhabitants; the seaside village of Arkassa is located in the southern part of Karpathos and has been turned into a large holiday resort. The village is standing on the slopes of a ravine and offers a magnificent view over the islet of Kassos. The superb 5th century basilica of Agia Anastassia with magnificent mosaics is standing near the village and can be visited. The basilica was built by material from the ruins of the temple of Lindia Athina at Palaiokastro.
