Overview

The capital of prefecture is a modern city with history of many centuries and is built in the banks of the known lake of Ioanninon. It is the bigger commercial and industrial centre of Ipirus and one of the most important cities of northern Greece.
Here you will find, the safe-deposit, the former royal kiosk, the grave of Ali Passa and powder keg. All these are found in the particular space of Citadel, in the castle of Ioanninon. You should visit, the two kempt panes in the castle, the clock, the central square, the tourist kiosk, the historical lake and the abbey of Agios Panteleimonas.
