It is 130 kilometres away from Thessaloniki and it is linked with the opposite coast Tripiti by ferry-boat. The boat service is regular all day long.
It is stretced in 4,5 kilometres. Hills interchange with small valleys on the surface of the island, which is overgrown with olive trees and short vegetation.
There are not systematic cultivations, and as a result the ecosystem remains untouched. The coasts interchange and form small bays, which have lovely beaches. The weather remains usually stable and we must mention that especially in the summer the winds are light. The residents deal mainly with fishing and tourism.
