Overview

  Peraia was property of a Turk, and there were initially installed 204 families (132 from Western Mikra Asia and 72 from Eastern Thraki), in total 740 people. The origin of the refugees from two different regions resulted in disagreements for the name that would be given to the refugee settlement. Finally, the Director of the Settlement Macedonia proposed the name Peraia.
