Overview
Our first acquaintance with Geras Bay takes place from the higher. Calm sea water surrounded by numerous olive trees. It's a travelogue with prominent colors the light blue of the sea and the silver green of the olive grooves. The Bay is characterized by a narrow opening towards Aegean Sea and in that way it gives the impression of a lake.
Around the spring the archaeological findings give evidence that the therapeutic water has been used by man since ancient times. During the period of the Ottoman occupation these buildings had been renovated, fact proved by the internal decoration of the baths accordingly to the standards of the Turkish baths ( chamam ). Today they are open to public under the supervision of Mytilene's Municipality. The water's temperature is 39,5 C recommended for the therapy of various human diseases.
