Overview
Mithimna or Molivos
It has the kind of beauty that is difficult to describe. It';s the most traditional and well preserved village in the whole island. It is built amphitheatrically and thanks to its pretty stone houses it looks more like a picture postcard, with a byzantine castle looming on top of the hill. A walk in the shaded, cobbled streets of Mithimna will lead you through to the charming old neighborhoods where the poet Argiris Eftaliotis and the writer Elias Venezis used to live, with beautifully preserved manor-houses, ornate drinking fountains and picturesque little cafés where you can enjoy your coffee or a local dessert, along with the view of the endless blue sea
DON'; T FORGET TO VISIT
- The byzantine castle at the top of the hill. The view is absolutely breathtaking and the beauty of the sunrise almost equals the ones in Santorini
- The relics of the ancient town and the roman aqueduct
- The archaeological collection that is housed in the City Hall
- The house where Argiris Eftaliotis used to live in the middle of the village
- His grave on the beach of Eftalou
