Overview

Mirina is the capital and harbor of the island with about 5.000 residents. It is built at the place of the homonymous ancient city. It is in front of two seashores that have between them a rocky and steep peninsula with an imposing castle and a marvellous view to the sea.

The castle was built in the 21th century A.D. by the emperor of Byzantium Androniko A' Komnino.

It is a beautiful city built in a traditional style. The sights of the city area: the Karatzadeios library, the Metropolis, the Archeological - Byzantine Museum with the biggest collection of archeological discoveries. Also, its harbour has big movement.

The city is flooded with scents. It is adorned with platans, eucalyptus, jujube trees and almond trees.
