Overview

The town of Plomari and the small hamlet of Agios Isidoros lie within 1km of each other on the South Coast of Lesvos. Plomari is not only the second largest town on the island, the first being the capital of Mytilini, but is also known as the Ouzo capital of Lesvos. The new town was built in 1842, after the pirates'; attacks and when the inhabitants decide to leave Megalochori and live by the seaside. As years passed by, Plomari became the capital of the county. It is a port of great importance with noticeable commercial traffic, cultural life, beautiful beaches and sightseeing that makes it a great summer resort.
