Overview

In the western department of Thessalia ground, is founded an uncanny stone state, the Meteora. More 1000 rocks nail the look, so as no human description but and no picture cannot present with liveliness their imposing beauty. Perhaps, it is one of most beautiful ground, as natural and in any case the phenomenon is unique in entire the world. When visitors leave from there have feelings of admiration, awes, but also fear. There are six monasteries that visitors can go there to see the beauty. The monasteries are: The Transshipment of Christ, Agios Varlaam, Agia Triada, protomartyr Agios Stefanos, Agios Nikolaos anapafsa and finally, the Rousanou monastery. There were 24 monasteries but most of them were devastated or destroyed and now you will meet only the above six ones.

Under these imposing rocks is found the Kalampaka in altitude of 240 metres from the sea. With this name it is acquaintance from the years of Ottoman domination that depended administratively in Larisa-Alli Passa. Kastraki the unique village that pops up between the colossus's stones is found in altitude of 270 metres from the sea. The name of village is owed certainly to the Byzantine castle that was found previously there and that its ruins are saved until today.
